Iran's Mossadegh and Modi Exploration and Promotion of Oil sector in Bharat
History
Oil supply discovered in Middle East
Since geologists determined that the Earth's largest supply of oil was under the Middle East, there have been many struggles for control of this precious resource.
1953 - Iran nationalised oil fields
In 1953, Iran's prime minister, Mohammed Mosaddegh, nationalized the country's oilfields.
CIA and MI6 conspired against the Iran government
But American and British intelligence agencies overthrew Mosaddegh's government.
1980s - War between Iran and Iraq
In the 1980s, Iran and Iraq fought a war in which both sides bombed oil refineries on land and oil tankers in the Persian Gulf.
1990 - Iraq invaded Kuwait
In 1991, Iraq invaded Kuwait, claiming that Kuwait was draining the oil deposit under both countries (slant drilling)
2003 - US invaded Iraq
In 2003, when the Americans invaded Iraq, part of the justification for war was to take away Iraq's ability to use "weapons of mass destruction," but another motivation was American control of Iraqi oil fields.

JD Rockefeller in 1892
-
In 1892, at the Geneva Convention, the smartest man in the oil industry J.D. Rockefeller paid scientists to call oil a 'fossil fuel' to induce the idea of scarcity, in order to set a 'world price for oil'.
-
The truth is that oil is actually the second-most prevalent liquid on earth next to water, and regenerates within the earth faster than it can ever be depleted.

Biggest Crude oil spikes
3rd - Iraq - Kuwait war in 1990
- Iraq attacked Kuwait in 1990, accusing that Kuwait was overproducing crude oil by slant drilling.
- This meant Iraq was accusing Kuwait of drilling and extracting Iraq's oil.
- Both the countries combined were producing about 8% of the global crude oil.
- During the conflict, this supply got hampered and resulted in reduced oil production, which caused the oil price to surge over 100%.
- In 1991, a coalition of 35 countries led by the U.S. decided to launch a counter to Iraq.
- The aim was to make it stop the conflict against Kuwait.
- This resulted in reduced prices of crude oil.
4th - Russia Ukraine SMO in 2022
- The fourth biggest shock was actually quite recent, during 2022.
- The crude oil price jumped by 60 to 70% at the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
- When the conflict started, many Western countries stopped buying crude oil from Russia in protest.
- This shortage led to the surge in the crude oil price.
- Europe was also very heavily dependent on Russia for natural gas.
- They reduced importing natural gas over time, which increased the price of natural gas too.
- Since Europe was not buying Russian oil, there was a shortage, but China and India started buying the Russian oil soon.
- The shortage vanished, and oil prices reduced to earlier levels.

Russia asks United States to stop pursuit of fleeing Oil tanker in the Caribbean Sea
The government of Russia has made a formal diplomatic request that the United States stop its pursuit of an oil tanker that has been sailing for Venezuela and is now fleeing the post-Garde in Atlantic Ocean.
Bella 1, from Iran to Venezuela
American forces tracking the tanker known as the Bella 1 for nearly two weeks. The ship, which started its journey in Iran, had been on its way to pick up oil in Venezuela when US forces tried to stop and board it in the Caribbean Sea.
Without national flag, susceptible for boarding
- The US authorities said that the ship was not flying with a valid national flag, making it a stateless vessel susceptible to boarding under international law, and said they possessed a seizure warrant.
- But the crew of the Bella 1 refused to comply and sailed back towards the Atlantic.
Registered with home port of Sochi, Black sea
In the days since the ship has tried to claim the protection of Russia with its crew painting a Russian flag on the side and radioing the coast guard to say they were sailing under Russian authority. The Bella 1 recently appeared in the Russian official register of ships under a new name, the Marinera, with a home port of Sochi, on the Black Sea.
US in possession of 2 tankers
The United States has boarded and taken possession of two other tankers in the Caribbean sea.
Venezuelan Navy accompanying tankers
Mr. Maduro has ordered the Venezuelan Navy to accompany some tankers leaving his country and has considered putting troops on board, potentially heightening the chances of an armed confrontation with EU's forces on the high seas. NYT
