Day Light Saving

Donald Trump wants to end America's century old practice of springing forward and falling back, ie., to eliminate the day light saving time
Daylight saving time is inconvenient and very costly to our Nation - Donald Trump
This move could require the cooperation of the Congress
The practice of shifting clocks forward one hour in March and back one hour in November, is intended to maximise the exposure of Americans to sunlight during working hours
It has been derided for causing groggy mornings, missed appointments and even some public health problems
Public health professionals have said that DST doesn't comport with humans' natural ciracidan rhythms, which have a greater risk of heart attacks, stroke and car accidents, educational problems like student drowsiness.
Many other countries have banned DST, with Mexico recently in 2022.
People supporting DST says, extending daylight saving time into winter would give Americans more time to be outside during sunny hours.
Ending DST means earlier sunrises across the country, like sunrise in D.C. would begin as early as 4.42am on some days in June.
A poll by YouGov on March 2023, revealed that 62% of Americans wanted to end DST
Half of the respondent said they wanted an year round DST
United States of America attempted to end the clock changes 50 years ago by adopting a permanent day light saving under President Nixon
But it backfired, reports of children waiting in dark for school buses to arrive and car accidents
Hence, the Congress rolled back the change after 10months
Most Americans now live in DST for 238 days a year
In 2022, the Senate passed the Sunshine Protection Act, but the bill died in the house when the questions were asked that whether year round DST was actually safe or healthy?
