The Nature Conservancy - NGO

Ever since India stated its desire to convert Nicobar into a trans shipment point and as a major naval base at the mouth of Malacca Straits, its the Americans who got major jitters - more than the Chinese (who should naturally be worried as 3/4 of their sea borne trade and oil supplies take the route).

And since then the usual NGOs, climate and environmentalist brigade started dancing their usual dance - how the project is a monumental folly - "oh the turtles, the indigenous plants etc."

A case in point : Pankaj Sekhsaria of Kalpvriksh foundation. It gets foreign funding from many agencies - but I will name one :

The Nature Conservancy - it operates out of Suite 100 on Fairfax Drive, Arlington, Virginia - USA.

If you know - the highest concentration of CIA spies are actually in and around Fairfax Drive. Just a 20 min drive to CIA headquarters actually. And yes, one can argue - proximity does not mean collusion.

But real estate in that area is cleared at the very top due to proximity of CIA HQ.

And there is a direct connection between CIA & The Nature Conservatory (google check, Linked in).

After all had Congress party come to power, they would have tried their based to derail these important defense projects using NGO written CIA paid articles ( amongst others ) to please their US & Chinese masters.

This is the reason why Jairam Ramesh raised the issue of environment when Navy decided to build base at Nicobar.
